Trunk comparison: Audi A4 Avant vs VW Taigo

Biggest Differences (more than 10%)
The Audi A4 Avant offers significantly more cargo length: with the seats folded down, the trunk of the A4 Avant is 10.6 in (≈17%) longer, and with the first row upright, it is 9.1 in (≈28%) longer than the VW Taigo.
In contrast, the VW Taigo has a noticeably different trunk geometry: the depth from the loading edge to the trunk floor is 5.9 in (≈300%) greater in the Taigo, and the loading edge of the Taigo is 4.7 in (≈19%) higher above the road than in the A4 Avant.
Impact on Usability
The greater cargo length of the A4 Avant makes it practically superior for long items (e.g., skis, furniture parts, slats) because such loads can be loaded flatter and more easily. The lower loading height profile of the A4 (lower loading edge) also makes lifting heavy items into the trunk easier.
The VW Taigo offers more usable volume vertically due to its greater depth from the loading edge to the floor and allows for higher or bulkier stacking in the rear part of the trunk.
However, the higher loading edge makes lifting heavy loads more strenuous and limits the easy sliding through of long, heavy items. For frequent loading and unloading of heavy or long goods, the Taigo is therefore less practical; for tall or bulky luggage, it can be advantageous.
Width at the narrowest point and the width of the trunk opening differ little; the slightly higher trunk opening of the A4 (+2 in, ≈6%) and the slightly larger opening width (+1.2 in, ≈3%) are minor and hardly affect everyday usability.
