Key Differences

The Audi A6 offers significantly more cargo length: +18.5 in (32%) with the seats folded down and +14.6 in (47%) with the first row upright compared to the VW T-Roc.

The VW T-Roc, on the other hand, wins in vertical and front accessibility: the height of the trunk opening is +14.2 in (72%) higher, the depth from the loading edge to the trunk floor is +3.9 in (83%) greater, and the width of the trunk opening is +7.5 in (20%) wider than the A6. The loading edge of the T-Roc is +4.3 in (17%) higher above the ground.

The narrowest width inside the trunk differs hardly at all (A6 only +0.4 in / 1%).

Impact on Usability

For long or lengthwise cargo (e.g., skis, long boards, furniture parts), the Audi A6 is clearly advantageous: the significantly greater cargo length allows longer items without complicated repositioning or standing them up.

Likewise, the A6 offers more usable depth in the longitudinal direction with the rear seats folded down.

The VW T-Roc is better suited for tall, bulky, and wide objects: the considerably higher trunk opening and larger opening width make it easier to maneuver tall or wide cargo inside (e.g., crates, boxes, larger household appliances).

The greater depth between the loading edge and trunk floor creates more vertical interior space.

Note the higher loading edge of the T-Roc: despite better opening height, items must be lifted higher, making loading heavy goods more strenuous.

The A6 has a lower opening but significantly more length — it is more practical when it comes to long items and a continuous loading surface. Width limitations play practically no role (only ~1% difference at the narrowest point).
