Trunk comparison: BMW X2 vs Skoda Elroq

Comparison of trunk dimensions for the BMW X2 and Skoda Elroq

Key Differences

With the front seats upright, the BMW X2 offers a 5.1 in (16%) longer trunk than the Škoda Elroq. The height of the trunk opening is 3.9 in (15%) higher on the Škoda. The depth of the trunk (distance from loading edge → trunk floor) is significantly greater in the BMW – by 3.1 in (800%).

At the same time, the loading edge of the BMW is 4.3 in (16%) higher above the ground. The width at the narrowest point is the same for both models; the Škoda’s trunk opening is only 1.6 in (4%) wider, and with the seats folded down, the Elroq is just 0.4 in (1%) longer – both marginal differences.

What are the implications for usability?

Due to the longer trunk with seats upright and the significantly greater depth, the BMW X2 clearly has advantages when it comes to transporting bulky or longer items without folding the seats down or placing the cargo further inside.

The larger interior volume and greater depth make the X2 overall more practical for luggage, crates, or longer parts.

In contrast, the Škoda Elroq makes loading easier thanks to the higher trunk opening: bulky, tall items fit more easily inside, and loading and unloading is more ergonomic because there is less risk of bumping into the opening.

The slightly wider opening supports this for wide loads, but with +1.6 in it is not a decisive advantage.

An important practical disadvantage of the BMW is the higher loading edge (+4.3 in). This makes lifting heavy items into the trunk more strenuous and rolling suitcases or transport boxes over the threshold more difficult.

The Škoda benefits here from a lower loading edge and the higher opening – better for frequent loading and unloading, shopping, or large, unwieldy items.

With the seats folded down, the differences in usable length are minimal (only +0.4 in in favor of the Škoda), so both are comparable at maximum cargo space.

Overall: BMW X2 = more interior depth and longer cargo floor with seats upright (better for volume/cargo), Škoda Elroq = easier, more ergonomic loading and unloading of large/tall items.
