Key Differences (highlighted >10%)

The BMW X5 offers significantly more cargo length: With the seats folded down, the trunk of the X5 is 13 in (22%) longer, and with the first row upright, it is even 11.8 in (41%) longer than the Škoda Kamiq. The narrowest width in the trunk is 4.3 in (11%) greater in the X5 compared to the Kamiq.

At the loading edge above the road, the X5 is 3.5 in (13%) higher than the Kamiq. Notably, the depth between the loading edge and the trunk floor is 5.9 in (1500%) deeper in the Škoda Kamiq than in the BMW X5.

What impact do these differences have on usability?

The greater cargo length of the BMW X5 makes it significantly more suitable for long items (e.g., furniture parts, long skis, lumber) and for considerably more cargo volume with the seats folded down. Due to the greater narrowest width, wider items fit through tight spots in the trunk of the X5 without problems.

The higher loading edge of the X5 (+3.5 in) means more effort is required to lift heavy or bulky loads. Combined with the shallower depth (the trunk floor is closer to the loading edge), loading and unloading low-lying items is easier to reach, but the vertical volume below the loading edge is more limited.

The Škoda Kamiq, with its significantly greater trunk depth (5.9 in) and slightly higher trunk opening (+1.6 in, not >10%), offers more vertical space below the loading edge. This facilitates stacking tall items and can be advantageous for bulky, tall loads.

Additionally, the Kamiq’s lower loading edge makes lifting heavy loads less strenuous. However, the shorter length and smaller narrowest width of the Kamiq limit the ability to transport long or wide items.

In summary: For transporting long and wide cargo, the BMW X5 is the better choice. For easier handling of heavy goods, better vertical stacking volume, and more convenient loading (lower loading edge and deeper trunk), the Škoda Kamiq is more practical.
