Key Differences

The Tesla Model Y offers significantly more loading length: +22.8 in (43%) with the seats folded down and +17.3 in (66%) with the first row upright compared to the Citroën C3. Additionally, the Model Y's trunk opening is wider by +5.1 in (15%).

In contrast, the Citroën C3 has a higher trunk opening by +3.9 in (14%), a significantly greater depth between the loading edge and trunk floor by +9.1 in (2200%), and a higher loading edge above the road by +3.1 in (11%). The narrowest trunk width differs hardly at all (+0.4 in / 1% in favor of the C3).

Impact on Usability

Due to the significantly greater loading length and wider opening, the Model Y is better suited for long or flat items (e.g., slats, skis, furniture boards) as well as for moves and bulky cargo that needs to be pushed far into the cargo space.

The wider opening also makes it easier to load wide parts crosswise or diagonally.

The Citroën C3 offers advantages in vertical space and in "secure lying" of cargo: The higher trunk opening and especially the greater depth to the trunk floor create a lower loading area where smaller or loose items are less likely to roll out.

For tall, upright items, the greater opening height can be beneficial. However, the higher loading edge makes lifting heavy loads into the vehicle more strenuous.

In short: For length and width of bulky cargo, the Tesla Model Y is the more practical choice; for vertical capacity, a deeper cargo well, and somewhat better securing of smaller items in the trunk, the Citroën C3 is preferable.
