Trunk comparison: Fiat Panda vs Jeep Renegade

Key Differences

The most noticeable differences concern the length dimensions and the depth of the trunk. The Jeep Renegade offers a significantly longer cargo space with the seats folded down: +16.5 in (38%) compared to the Fiat Panda. Even with the first row of seats upright, the Renegade is longer: +9.1 in (43%).

In contrast, the trunk depth (loading edge to trunk floor) is greater in the Fiat Panda: +1.6 in (29%) compared to the Renegade. All other differences are much smaller (opening height +0.4 in / 1%, loading edge height +2.8 in / 10%, narrowest width +2 in / 5%, opening width +0.8 in / 2%).

Impact on Usability

The longer dimensions of the Renegade practically mean: long items (e.g., laminate flooring, long boxes, surfboards, foldable bikes without front wheel) can be transported more easily and usually flat in the Renegade.

Even when loading with the rear seat upright, more cargo length remains for suitcases or bulky everyday items.

The greater depth of the Panda (more distance from loading edge to floor) provides more vertical storage space directly behind the loading edge. This is advantageous when items are taller or need to be stacked (e.g., crates, shopping towers).

However, the greater depth does not compensate for the lack of length: very long parts are unlikely to fit in the Panda due to the shorter cargo length.

Practical consequences of smaller differences: The loading edge of the Renegade is higher (+2.8 in), which makes lifting heavy loads somewhat more strenuous; the slightly larger widths in the Panda (+2–2 in) only marginally ease maneuvering wider items.

The almost identical opening height (+0.4 in) has hardly any practical effect.

Conclusion: For transport tasks involving long items or when maximum cargo length with folded seats is important, the Jeep Renegade is the better choice.

For space-saving stacking, somewhat more vertical storage space directly behind the loading edge, or if a lower loading edge and easier lifting are desired, the Fiat Panda offers advantages.
