Trunk comparison: Fiat Panda vs VW ID.3

Key Differences
The VW ID.3 offers a significantly longer cargo area: with the seats folded down, its trunk is 16.5 in (38%) longer, and with the first row upright, 9.8 in (46%) longer than the Fiat Panda.
The Fiat Panda, on the other hand, has a taller and deeper cargo opening: the height of the trunk opening is 5.1 in (17%) higher and the depth (loading edge to trunk floor) is 0.8 in (13%) greater than the ID.3. The loading edge of the ID.3 is 3.1 in (12%) higher above the road than the Panda.
The width at the narrowest point is the same for both; the opening width of the Panda is only slightly (+4%, not significant) larger.
Impact on Usability
For long items (e.g., slats, skis, long boxes, or furniture parts), the ID.3 clearly has the advantage: the significantly greater loading length – both with folded seats and with the first row upright – allows storing longer cargo without changing the seat configuration.
The Panda is more practical for tall or bulky but not particularly long items: the taller trunk opening and greater depth create more vertical space and make it easier to load tall boxes or equipment.
The lower loading floor level of the Panda also makes lifting heavy loads easier; with the ID.3, the loading edge that is 3.1 in higher complicates loading heavy or bulky items.
Since the narrowest width is identical, there are no differences for very wide but short or tall cargo. The slightly larger opening width of the Panda (+4%) has little practical effect.
In short: choose the ID.3 if regular transport of long items is important. Choose the Panda if frequently loading tall, bulky, or heavy cargo comfortably and with less lifting effort is desired.
