Key Differences (>10%)

In usable cargo space, the Tesla Model Y is significantly longer: +29.9 in (64%) more cargo length with the seats folded down and +25.2 in (136%) more when the first row of seats is upright. The width of the trunk opening is also larger on the Tesla: +4.3 in (12%).

On the other hand, the Hyundai i10 offers a higher trunk opening and a significantly deeper loading floor: the opening height is +5.1 in (19%) greater and the depth (loading edge to trunk floor) is +7.1 in (1700%) higher than on the Tesla.

Impact on Usability

The longer loading area of the Tesla Model Y makes it better suited for long or bulky items (e.g., slats, longer furniture parts, longer luggage) and for transports with folded seats.

The wider opening also makes it easier to load and unload wider objects and increases the likelihood of fitting bulky luggage without awkward angling.

The Hyundai i10, on the other hand, scores with tall or bulky but not necessarily long items: the greater opening height combined with the significantly deeper loading floor creates more vertical space behind the loading edge, making it easier to fit taller boxes or standing items.

However, the shorter cargo length is a limiting factor for very long loads.

Both models have the same loading edge height, meaning the effort required to lift loads is comparable. Smaller width differences at the narrowest point (±8%) are less relevant compared to the effects mentioned above.
