Trunk comparison: Peugeot 3008 vs Renault Clio

Comparison of trunk dimensions for the Peugeot 3008 and Renault Clio
Comparison of trunk dimensions for the Peugeot 3008 and Renault Clio

Key Differences

The Peugeot 3008 offers a cargo space that is 13.8 in (27%) longer with the seats folded down than the Renault Clio.

Even with the front seats upright, the loading area of the 3008 is significantly more advantageous at 11 in (39%) longer. Furthermore, the loading edge of the Peugeot is significantly higher: 22 in (233%) above the road.

In contrast, the Renault Clio has a considerably greater depth between the loading edge and the trunk floor: 26 in (600%) more than the Peugeot.

Smaller differences: The height of the trunk opening of the Peugeot is only 1.6 in (5%) higher, the width of the opening is 0.8 in (2%) larger; the narrowest width of both trunks is the same.

Impact on Usability

The greater loading length of the Peugeot 3008 makes it more practical for long items (e.g., skis, slats, furniture parts) and for trips with a lot of luggage, because more usable storage space is available lengthwise both with folded seats and in normal seating operation.

However, the higher loading edge means that more lifting strength is required when loading and unloading heavy or bulky goods: users have to lift items higher, which makes handling more difficult.

The Renault Clio scores with a significantly lower loading edge (relatively) and a large depth below the loading edge. The lower loading edge reduces the lifting effort when loading from the ground and is more comfortable in everyday use with frequent loading and unloading.

However, the strong depth between the loading edge and floor creates a deep cargo well: luggage lies lower, which can make removing heavy items more difficult and requires more bending or reaching in. Overall, the depth can increase usable volume but makes simultaneous grabbing and lifting out less comfortable.

Since the narrowest width is the same and the opening dimensions differ only minimally, both models offer similar possibilities for wide luggage.

Practical recommendation: If you frequently transport long or bulky loads (also with folded seats), the Peugeot 3008 is the better choice. If you prefer frequent, low-level loading and unloading and appreciate a lower loading edge, the Renault Clio is more practical.
