Key Differences

Several major differences stand out from the specifications: The SEAT Tarraco offers a 11% larger trunk opening (+3.1 in) and a 12% wider trunk opening (+4.7 in). At the same time, the Tarraco's loading edge is 17% higher (+4.3 in) above the ground.

In contrast, the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports has a 33% greater trunk depth (loading edge to trunk floor, +0.8 in).

Smaller or negligible differences include the longer trunk length of the Tarraco with the first row of seats upright (+3.9 in / 10%) as well as minimal differences in volume with the seats folded down (+1%), which are not dominant here.

What are the implications for usability?

The combination of a higher and wider opening in the Tarraco makes loading tall or wide items (e.g., furniture, strollers, bulky boxes) significantly easier: more clearance height and width reduce the risk of hitting the lid or sides and make maneuvering bulky parts easier.

The downside is the significantly higher loading edge: heavy or awkward loads must be lifted higher, which makes frequent loading more difficult and more strenuous when regularly transporting heavy goods.

The Corolla benefits from the significantly greater trunk depth and the lower loading edge: the lower loading edge reduces the required lifting height when loading (practical for shopping bags, boxes, heavy luggage), and the deeper loading floor offers a kind of storage/sunken space where cargo can be placed more stably.

However, a smaller opening height and width make handling large, tall, or very wide items less practical—such objects may need to be tilted or slid in from the sides.

In short: For regular transport of wide or tall items, the SEAT Tarraco is better suited due to the larger opening; for frequent lifting of heavy loads or for stable, "deeply" stored cargo, the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports is more practical thanks to the lower loading edge and deeper loading floor.
