Trunk comparison: Skoda Karoq vs Tesla Model Y

Main Differences
The Tesla Model Y offers a significantly longer cargo area: with the seats folded down, the trunk of the Model Y is
longer, and with the first row of seats upright even
longer than the Skoda Karoq. In contrast, the Skoda Karoq performs better in vertical dimensions and loading geometry: the height of the trunk opening is
greater on the Karoq, and the depth between the loading edge and the trunk floor is
greater on the Karoq. Smaller differences — such as the width at the narrowest point (+6%) or the width of the opening (+3%) in favor of the Karoq, as well as the loading edge of the Model Y being +0.8 in higher — are under 10% and are not highlighted here.
Impact on Usability
Because the Model Y offers significantly more loading length, it is better suited for long, flat items like slats, long furniture parts, skis, or surfboards: these can usually be laid completely flat without removing seats. The Karoq, on the other hand, offers more usable vertical and depth space due to the higher opening and significantly deeper loading floor, which is advantageous when transporting taller or bulkier items (boxes, luggage, larger cartons). However, the greater depth also means that with the Karoq, items often need to be lifted over the loading edge — heavy cargo requires more lifting effort or a ramp. The smaller differences in width and loading edge affect everyday usability only slightly: the loading edge of the Model Y is minimally higher above the ground, which can make lifting from the floor slightly more difficult, and the slightly larger narrow width of the Karoq marginally eases fitting very narrow items. In short: for long, flat loads, the Tesla Model Y is the better choice; for bulky, tall, or deep cargo, the Skoda Karoq is more practical — though with more lifting effort when loading.
