Key Differences

The VW ID.4 offers significantly more cargo space: with the seats folded down, it is +9.4 in (17%) longer than the Audi Q2, with the first row upright, it is +6.3 in (21%) longer, and the width of the trunk opening is +5.1 in (14%) larger.

Each of these three values exceeds 10% and represents the biggest practical differences between the vehicles.

What does this mean for usability?

The greater interior length with folded seats makes the ID.4 much better suited for long items like slats, furniture parts, or sports equipment (skis, surfboards, etc.) that can be accommodated less easily or only with compromises in the Q2. Even with the rear seat upright, the ID.4 offers noticeably more usable length, which facilitates everyday use for families or when transporting goods (more suitcases, strollers, shopping bags).

The wider opening of the ID.4 simplifies loading wide items and maneuvering bulky cargo through the tailgate.

The remaining differences are smaller: the trunk opening of the ID.4 is only slightly higher (+1.2 in, 4%), the usable depth from the loading edge to the floor is minimal in the Audi (+0.4 in, 10%), and the loading edge of the Q2 is slightly higher (+0.8 in, 3%) — these values have little impact on handling when loading/unloading.

This means: the Audi Q2 remains more practical for inner-city, compact use but offers less flexibility for long or wide cargo; the ID.4 is clearly advantageous when regularly transporting larger, longer, or wider items.
