Trunk dimensions Audi Q2

The Audi Q2 (2019) offers a trunk volume of about 14.3 cu ft, which can be expanded up to 37.1 cu ft when the rear seats are folded down. The rear bench is split 60:40, allowing flexibility when transporting luggage. The interior is designed with high quality, focusing clearly on functionality and comfort.

The trunk dimensions vary within the model range, with the height and width of the cargo space ensuring easy loading. The loading edge is relatively low, which facilitates loading. Typical features include a practical shape and a well-thought-out interior design, making the Q2 attractive as an urban SUV.

Model Information

The Audi Q2 is a compact SUV that was first launched in 2016. It combines sporty design with functional features and targets buyers looking for an agile vehicle for urban areas.

The Q2 offers a high seating position that provides good traffic visibility, as well as modern technologies and a comfortable interior. The latest series of the Q2 brings improved engines, infotainment systems, and safety features that enhance driving comfort and user-friendliness.

Variants of the Same Series

The Audi Q2 is designed as an SUV and has no direct variants such as sedan or convertible. However, there are other models in the Audi lineup, like the Q3 or Q5, which are also SUVs but come in different sizes and price ranges.

Buyers should note that the Q2 distinguishes itself by its compact build and sporty orientation from these larger models.

Yearly Differences

Since its introduction in 2016, the Audi Q2 has undergone several facelifts and technical updates. Notably, in 2020, some changes were made to the body and dimensions, which also affected the trunk.

These changes mainly concerned equipment and the engine range, while the basic trunk dimensions remained largely constant. Buyers should be aware that the latest models often offer improved technologies and safety features that increase comfort and functionality.

Direct Competitors

In the same price class and size as the Audi Q2 are models like the BMW X1 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA. The BMW X1 offers a trunk volume of about 17.8 cu ft, making it superior in this regard. The Mercedes-Benz GLA, on the other hand, has a volume of around 15.4 cu ft.

These differences can be decisive for buyers who value cargo space. However, the Q2 positions itself as an attractive offer in the segment through its sporty design and high-quality interior.

More Affordable Alternatives

More affordable models with similar trunk dimensions include the Skoda Karoq and the Nissan Qashqai. The Skoda Karoq offers a trunk volume of about 18.4 cu ft, while the Nissan Qashqai comes to about 15.2 cu ft.

Both vehicles are generally cheaper than the Audi Q2 but offer comparable features and good value for money. Buyers looking for an SUV with sufficient cargo space should consider these alternatives.

Trunk Volume

The trunk specifications of the Audi Q2 2021 vary: manufacturer's specification 14.3 cu ft, independent measurements 11.7 cu ft. This fact package cites an average of about 13 cu ft, which is approximately 12.5% below the average car.

Up to the window sill with folded rear seats, the Q2 offers 23.5 cu ft (independent measurement), roof-high with folded rear seats around 1,045–37.1 cu ft.

Practically, this means: for everyday use, the volume is sufficient for shopping bags, medium-sized suitcases, and smaller moves; for larger transports, folding down the rear seats is recommended.

Manufacturer vs. independent values differ significantly — pay attention to the testing methods when specific space requirements apply.

Vehicle Size and Parking Friendliness

The Audi Q2 is 165.7 in long, 70.5 in wide, 59.4 in high. Compared to an average car, it is about 13.8 in shorter (-7.7%), 2.4 in narrower (-3.1%), and 2.4 in lower (-3.6%). It is also significantly smaller than a standard parking space (about 31.1 in shorter and 28 in narrower).

The result: the Q2 is very parking-friendly and well-suited for city driving and tight parking spots. The compact exterior dimensions facilitate maneuvering and garage access.

Trunk Usability and Flexibility

The trunk opens widely but narrows somewhat at the top — this can limit wide, tall items. The loading edge is relatively high at about 29.5 in, which increases the effort to lift heavy loads.

With the variable loading floor in the upper position, the height difference to the loading opening is only 1.6 in, in the lower position it is almost 7.9 in for front-wheel drive models.

Practical details: the rear seatbacks are asymmetrically foldable as standard (three-part folding available at extra cost) and can be easily folded down. The luggage compartment offers numerous storage spaces; however, a partition net is not available.

When the seatbacks are folded down, up to the window sill 23.5 cu ft fit, roof-high just over 35.3 cu ft — alternatively, up to 7 beverage crates can be loaded.

An electric tailgate is optionally available (present in the test vehicle); however, there is no hands-free (foot movement) opening. Without electric assistance, the tailgate can fortunately be operated with little effort.

Assessment for everyday use: good utility value due to flexible rear seat and variable loading floor, but limitations with very bulky or awkward items due to the upper narrowing and the high loading edge.

General Model Information

Familiarity: The Q2 is Audi's compact SUV/crossover model and is widespread in Europe as a city/street vehicle.

Special Features: Distinctive, angular design, premium feel in the interior, numerous optional extras (e.g., electric tailgate, keyless entry system).

Characteristics: The keyless system is comfortable but, according to tests, vulnerable to simple relay attacks (can be deactivated). No partition net available; front-wheel drive models benefit from a simple rear axle providing space advantages in the trunk.

Price-Performance Ratio: As an Audi model, the Q2 positions itself in the premium segment; interior quality and equipment justify higher prices compared to classic compact cars, but the usable cargo space is not class-leading.

Competitor Models: Mercedes-GLA, BMW X1, Volvo XC40, VW T-Roc, and Mini Countryman — the Q2 scores against some competitors with compact exterior dimensions and design but faces pressure on pure cargo space and sometimes price.
