Trunk comparison: VW Touran vs VW T-Roc

Comparison of trunk dimensions for the VW Touran and VW T-Roc
Comparison of trunk dimensions for the VW Touran and VW T-Roc

Key Differences

The biggest differences concern loading length and loading height. The VW Touran offers with folded seats a trunk that is 12.2 in (21%) longer than the T-Roc and is also 9.1 in (29%) longer with the first row of seats upright.

Conversely, the VW T-Roc has a trunk that is 17.3 in (129%) longer with all seats upright than the Touran. The height of the trunk opening is the same for both models.

In the T-Roc, the depth (loading edge to trunk floor) is 8.3 in (2100%) greater and the loading edge overall is 5.9 in (24%) higher above the ground than in the Touran.

Smaller differences: the narrowest trunk width is 1.6 in (4%) larger in the Touran, the width of the trunk opening is 3.5 in (9%) larger in the T-Roc — both under 10% and therefore less relevant.

Impact on Usability

For long or bulky loads (e.g., long furniture, slats, bicycles without front wheel), the Touran is clearly advantageous when folded down: the greater loading length makes it easier and more flexible to load long items.

Even with the first row of seats left upright, the Touran offers more cargo space than the T-Roc in the same configuration.

However, when all seats are upright (i.e., full passenger occupancy), the T-Roc offers significantly more loading length behind the seats — this is practical for everyday use with multiple passengers when relatively long items or more luggage still need to be accommodated.

The significantly higher loading edge (+5.9 in) and greater depth between loading edge and trunk floor in the T-Roc mean a noticeably different loading comfort: heavy lifting is more strenuous, loading and unloading lower/heavier items requires more effort or aids.

The same height of the trunk opening and only minor width differences (4% and 9%) have little effect on loading wider items.

In short: Touran = better for long/bulky loads and flexible folding; T-Roc = better usable trunk space with full seating, but with a higher loading edge and altered loading comfort.
