Trunk dimensions Chevrolet Volt

The Opel Ampera 2011 offers a trunk with a volume of about 10.6 cu ft, which can be expanded up to 38.8 cu ft when the rear seats are folded down.

The rear bench is split 60:40, allowing flexibility when transporting luggage. The interior design is functional, with a low loading edge that makes loading and unloading easier.

The trunk dimensions do not vary significantly within the model range, but the shape of the trunk can slightly differ depending on the equipment. Overall, the Ampera provides a practical solution for everyday transport needs, even though the trunk is rather average compared to other compact vehicles.

Model Information

The Opel Ampera is a compact electric hybrid distinguished by its innovative drive technology. The latest series of the Ampera offers a combination of electric drive and a small combustion engine that acts as a generator.

This enables a range of several hundred kilometers, with a focus on efficiency and environmental friendliness. The hatchback design of the Ampera provides a sporty look and improved aerodynamics.

Variants of the Same Series

The Opel Ampera is mainly offered as a hatchback. There are no other variants like sedan or convertible that could be confused with the Ampera. However, the hatchback shape offers a practical combination of style and functionality that appeals to many buyers.

Trunk Volume

The trunk of the Opel Ampera offers a volume of about 10.6 cu ft, which is considered sufficient for a vehicle of this class. The trunk opening is generously designed, making loading easier.

Additionally, the rear seats are foldable, expanding transport options and increasing the total volume up to 35.3 cu ft. This flexibility makes the Ampera a practical choice for everyday transport as well as longer trips.

Yearly Differences

The Opel Ampera was first introduced in 2011, and there have been several model changes over the years. The most significant adjustments affecting the body and trunk dimensions occurred in 2015 when the model received a facelift.

These changes affected both the exterior design and the interior layout, which also influenced the trunk. Exact dimensions may vary depending on the equipment.

Direct Competitors

In the same price range and size as the Opel Ampera are models like the Nissan Leaf and the BMW i3. The Nissan Leaf offers a trunk volume of about 15.4 cu ft, making it superior in this regard.

The BMW i3, on the other hand, has a trunk volume of around 9.2 cu ft, making it somewhat less practical compared to the Ampera. These differences are crucial for buyers who value cargo space.

More Affordable Alternatives

More affordable alternatives with similar trunk dimensions include models like the Dacia Sandero and the Skoda Fabia. The Dacia Sandero offers a trunk volume of about 11.3 cu ft, while the Skoda Fabia provides around 11.7 cu ft.

Both models are generally cheaper than the Ampera and still offer comparable cargo capacity, making them attractive options for buyers with a limited budget.
