Trunk Usability and Flexibility

Practical features and limitations of the cargo compartment:

The tailgate opens electrically; there is a separate button in the driver’s door for the tailgate (more practical than touchscreen control), but no foot sensor.
The trunk opening is typical for notchback sedans and relatively small, making it difficult to load bulky or long items.
The loading edge is at 27.2 in above the road — a favorable height for loading, but inside there is a 2.8 in high step to overcome when unloading.
Folding down the rear seatbacks creates a disruptive step; the backs rise significantly and unlocking is only possible from above (not from the trunk). The middle seat belt cannot be detached and can get in the way.
The Seal offers two LED lights in the trunk but no 12‑V socket.
Practical example: About six standard beverage crates fit inside — good for everyday use and shopping, less suitable for large moving items or long components.

Weight limits: Curb weight 2055 kg, payload 446 kg — heavy loads (many passengers plus lots of luggage) can significantly reduce the usable remaining capacity.

Familiarity: The BYD Seal is a fully electric design sedan from BYD competing in the compact to mid-size electric sedan segment.

Special Features: Frunk (~1.6 cu ft), electrically opening tailgate with separate interior control, well-lit trunk (2× LED), low loading edge (27.2 in).
