This makes the ZR-V smaller than average (-13.7%). The cargo compartment accounts for about 5.3% of the total vehicle volume, also slightly below average (-1.2 percentage points).

With the rear seatbacks folded down, the volume grows to 30.2 cu ft (up to the window sill, independent measurement) and 1,291–48.6 cu ft roof-high (manufacturer vs. independent measurement).

Practically, this means significantly more can be transported for bulky loads or vacation luggage without having to choose a larger class.

Vehicle Size and Parking Friendliness

The ZR-V measures 179.9 in length, 72.4 in width, and 63.4 in height. Compared to an average car, it is marginally longer (+0.2%), slightly narrower (-0.6%), and taller (+3.1%).

In everyday use, the ZR-V shows strengths and weaknesses:

Loading edge approx. 28 in above the road: acceptable height for shopping bags and medium-sized boxes; loading floor and edge are level, which facilitates loading and unloading.
The tailgate is large, making bulky cargo easily accessible.
With the cargo cover removed, the sloped rear window adds only about ~4.2 cu ft or alternatively space for a total of eight beverage crates (practical data from the fact sheet) – meaning limited build height in normal condition.
The rear seatbacks fold down asymmetrically, release via button on top of the seatback (not accessible from the trunk). When folding down the left part, the middle roof belt must be unhooked first.
Practical details: precisely fitting luggage compartment cover under the loading floor, fold-up front loading floor section, and optional lighting of the loading edge protection strip.
Negative: nets and side pockets are missed; the seat release not accessible from the trunk is a minor comfort drawback.

Conclusion: The cargo space is sufficient for everyday shopping and occasional weekend trips; for regular transport of very large or tall items, the folded seats are necessary — then >28.3 cu ft or >42.4 cu ft are available.
