Trunk dimensions Lexus LS

The trunk of the 2013 Lexus LS sedan offers a volume of about 15.9 cu ft. When the rear seats are folded down, the volume can vary, but the seats are not foldable as standard.

The rear bench is usually designed as a continuous seat, which limits the use of the trunk. The interior design is high-quality, focusing on comfort and luxury, which is also reflected in the trunk.

The trunk dimensions within the model range show some consistency, with the shape being rather flat and spacious. The loading edge is relatively low, making loading and unloading easier.

Practicality is supported by good accessibility and the ability to securely store smaller items. Overall, the trunk of the 2013 Lexus LS offers a balanced combination of style and functionality.

Model Information

The Lexus LS is the flagship sedan of the Japanese automaker Lexus, which belongs to Toyota Motor Corporation. The latest series of the Lexus LS combines luxurious equipment with advanced technology and elegant design.

The sedan is known for its high comfort, quiet driving noise, and extensive safety features. The Lexus LS targets buyers who value quality, performance, and a first-class driving experience.

Variants of the Same Series

The Lexus LS is mainly offered as a sedan. There are no convertible, hatchback, or wagon variants of the LS that could be confused with this model.

The sedan is available in various trim levels, including the LS 500 and LS 500h, the latter being a hybrid version. These variants differ in engine and offered features, but the body style remains constant.

Model Year Differences

The current generation of the Lexus LS was introduced in 2017. Since then, there have been minor model updates, but these did not bring significant changes in body dimensions or trunk volume.

Previous generations, especially the LS 460 and LS 600h, had different dimensions that affected trunk volume. However, the differences are not so significant as to strongly impact the trunk's functionality.

Direct Competitors

In the same price class and size, the Lexus LS competes with models like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7 Series. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class offers a trunk volume of about 17.7 cu ft, making it superior in this regard.

The BMW 7 Series has a similar volume to the LS but generally around 14.8 cu ft. These differences can be decisive for buyers who want to transport a lot of luggage.

More Affordable Alternatives

More affordable models with similar trunk dimensions include the Toyota Avalon and the Hyundai Genesis. The Toyota Avalon offers a trunk volume of about 16.1 cu ft, making it an attractive option for buyers who value space but are not willing to pay the price of a Lexus LS.

The Hyundai Genesis has a trunk volume of about 15.3 cu ft and also offers good equipment at a lower price.

Trunk Volume

The trunk of the 2021 Lexus LS sedan holds 15.2 cu ft (manufacturer specification). This is just above average: +2.38% compared to a typical passenger car. Relative to the total vehicle volume (LxWxH/2), the trunk accounts for about 5.9%, which is 0.6 percentage points below average.

Practical effect: The volume is sufficient for everyday use (shopping, weekend luggage) but does not provide above-average flexibility for very bulky or many pieces of luggage. More space remains in the passenger compartment for passengers and comfort, at the expense of relative cargo space.

Vehicle Size and Parking Friendliness

Dimensions: 206.3 in long, 74.8 in wide, 57.5 in high. Compared to an average car, the LS is 26.8 in longer (+14.8%), 2 in wider (+2.7%), and 3.9 in lower (-6.6%).

Parking-relevant effects: The length is critical – according to the data package, the vehicle is 9.4 in longer than a standard parking space, so it may not fit precisely in some standard parking spots or garage lengths.

At the same time, it is 23.6 in narrower than a standard parking space, so there is usually still space on the sides. Overall, this means:

Parking requires more length: longer parking spots or edge spaces are recommended.
The width is above average but usually fits in normal parking spaces; caution in tight underground garages and narrow lanes.
The low height can make loading and unloading bulky, tall items more difficult.

Trunk Usability and Flexibility

The trunk is volumetrically slightly above average but structurally not exceptionally flexible. Practical consequences:

Typical everyday tasks (shopping, suitcases for short trips) are well covered.
With a lot of luggage and full occupancy, it can get tight because the trunk is moderate relative to the vehicle size.
The lower vehicle height can limit stacking tall items and make loading bulky suitcases more difficult.
Those who frequently carry large or bulky cargo should practically check the trunk's practicality before purchase.

General Model Information

Familiarity: The Lexus LS is Lexus’s flagship sedan and stands for comfort, high-quality workmanship, and a luxurious appearance.

Special features: Characteristic are the generous exterior dimensions (long, wide body) and the focus on driving comfort and comfort equipment. The vehicle is more focused on passenger comfort than on maximum trunk space.

Particularities: The long, low design results in an elegant appearance but also practical limitations in parking and loading conditions in tight urban environments.

Price-performance ratio: As an upper-class sedan, the LS is typically positioned in the premium segment: high equipment and comfort come with a correspondingly higher price.

Competitor models: Direct competitors are large German sedans like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8, which are similarly positioned and offer comparable size and comfort factors.
