Trunk dimensions Mitsubishi Grandis

The Mitsubishi Grandis 2007 offers a trunk with a volume of about 15.9 cu ft with the rear seats upright. When the seats are folded down, the volume increases up to 63.6 cu ft, providing high flexibility for cargo.

The rear bench is usually designed in a 2-1-2 layout, allowing easy adjustment of the seating configuration.

The interior is functional and features a practical design with a low loading edge, which facilitates loading. The trunk dimensions can vary within the model range, but the basic shape remains rectangular, maximizing usability.

Typical features include good accessibility and the ability to fold the seats flat, which increases practicality. The Grandis is thus well suited for families and frequent travelers.

Model Information

The Mitsubishi Grandis is a van that was first introduced in 2003. It offers seating for up to seven people and is known for its versatility and family-friendliness.

The latest series of the Grandis combines comfort with appealing design and modern technologies. The equipment includes, among other things, an advanced infotainment system, safety features, and a flexible interior layout that meets the needs of families.

Variants of the Same Series

The Mitsubishi Grandis is mainly offered as a van. There are no other variants such as sedan, convertible, or wagon within this model series that could cause confusion. The focus is clearly on family-friendliness and cargo space, which distinguishes the Grandis from other vehicle types.

Yearly Differences

Over the years, there have been some model changes that affected the body dimensions and trunk dimensions of the Mitsubishi Grandis.

The first generation was produced from 2003 to 2011, with minor facelifts and adjustments in 2006 and 2009. These changes mainly affected the equipment and less the basic dimensions of the vehicle. The trunk size essentially remained constant, but materials and interior design were improved over the years.

Direct Competition

In the same price range and size as the Mitsubishi Grandis are models like the Ford Galaxy and Volkswagen Sharan. The Ford Galaxy offers a trunk volume of about 10.6 cu ft with seats up and up to 81.2 cu ft with seats folded down.

The Volkswagen Sharan has similar dimensions, with a trunk volume of 10.6 cu ft and up to 81.2 cu ft with seats folded down. In comparison, the Grandis has a smaller trunk volume, making it somewhat less competitive in this regard.

More Affordable Alternatives

More affordable alternatives to the Mitsubishi Grandis with similar trunk dimensions are, for example, the Dacia Lodgy and Citroën Berlingo. The Dacia Lodgy offers about 7.3 cu ft of trunk volume with seats up and can be expanded to up to 53 cu ft.

The Citroën Berlingo has a trunk volume of about 27.4 cu ft with seats up and up to 105.9 cu ft with seats folded down. These models are generally cheaper and still offer good flexibility in the interior.

Cargo space Mitsubishi Grandis

Mitsubishi Grandis trunk space volume — Trunk volume Mitsubishi Grandis

Trunk Volume

The Mitsubishi Grandis Van 2026 has a trunk volume of 17.6 cu ft (manufacturer's specification). This is 18.81% larger than an average car. Relative to the vehicle, the trunk accounts for about 8% of the total car volume (L×W×H/2), which is 1.6 percentage points more than average.

Impact in everyday use: The higher volume means more storage space for large shopping trips, strollers, or luggage without significantly larger exterior dimensions. Items can usually be transported without complicated rearranging; the trunk is advantageous for family and leisure use.

Vehicle Size and Parking Friendliness

The exterior dimensions are 173.6 in length, 70.9 in width, and 62.2 in height. Compared to the average, the Grandis is 5.9 in shorter (-3.2%), 2 in narrower (-2.9%), and 0.4 in taller (+0.7%).

Compared to a standard parking space, the vehicle remains 23.2 in shorter and 27.6 in narrower. This means parking spaces and tight spots are generally easier to use, making city parking simpler — while still leaving space next to the vehicle in the parking area.

Trunk Usability and Flexibility

The above-average trunk proportion of the vehicle volume indicates efficient space utilization. Practical consequences:

More loading volume without bulky exterior dimensions: useful for weekend and vacation luggage.
Better ratio of interior to exterior space facilitates everyday usability (shopping, sports equipment, child needs).
Shape and foldability of the rear seats are not specified in the fact package; actual flexibility (flat loading floor, seat variants) determines how versatile the cargo space really is.

General Model Information

Familiarity: No information on market position or familiarity is included in the current fact package.

Special Features: Noteworthy is the above-average trunk volume with compact exterior dimensions — a combination attractive for families and users with regular cargo needs.

Characteristics: Shorter and narrower body than average, thus more parking-friendly; slightly increased vehicle height (+0.4 in) has hardly any practical disadvantages.

Price-Performance Ratio: Specific prices and equipment details are not available. Based on space layout, the combination of large trunk and compact exterior suggests a potentially good everyday value offer — final evaluation requires price and equipment comparison.

Competitor Models: Comparable vehicle classes include compact vans/MPVs such as VW Touran, Renault Scénic, or Ford C‑MAX (as orientation candidates for size, utility, and target group).
