Trunk dimensions Porsche Gen2
The 2016 Porsche 911 Gen2 Cabriolet offers a trunk with a volume of about 4.4 cu ft. When the rear seats are folded down, the volume can vary; however, the seats in the Cabriolet are not foldable, which limits flexibility.
The rear bench is usually designed as a 2+2 seating configuration, with limited space for passengers in the back.
The interior is high-quality and sporty, focusing on functionality and premium materials. The trunk dimensions can vary slightly within the model range, but the shape remains compact and the loading edge low, which facilitates loading and unloading.
Overall, the trunk of the Porsche 911 Gen2 Cabriolet is more geared toward the sporty character of the vehicle than maximum practicality.
Model Information
The Porsche Gen2 Cabriolet is an advanced variant of the Porsche models known for their sporty performance and luxurious equipment. This generation offers a combination of state-of-the-art technology, high-quality craftsmanship, and a distinctive design.
The Gen2 Cabriolet is especially suitable for drivers who want to combine the open-air feeling of a convertible with the performance of a sports car. With a powerful engine and precise chassis tuning, the vehicle delivers impressive driving dynamics both on the road and on the racetrack.
Variants of the Same Series
Within the Porsche Gen2 series, there are several variants that differ in body style and equipment. In addition to the Cabriolet, coupe and Targa models are also available. These variants offer different driving experiences and design features that should not be confused.
While the Cabriolet stands for an open driving experience, the coupe models offer a sportier silhouette and possibly more rigidity. Targa models combine elements of both worlds by offering a removable roof that cannot be fully opened.
Trunk Volume
The trunk of the Porsche Gen2 Cabriolet is designed to offer both functionality and style. The trunk volume is about 5.3 cu ft, which is considered adequate for a convertible in this class. The trunk is sufficient for smaller luggage or a sports bag but not for larger travel suitcases.
The transport options are limited by the shape of the trunk, as the opening is relatively small. Nevertheless, there are practical solutions such as a well-thought-out arrangement of luggage compartments that optimally utilize the available space.
Yearly Differences
Over the years, various model changes have been made to the Porsche Gen2 Cabriolet that affect the body dimensions and trunk measurements. In particular, the introduction of new engines and technical features has led to adjustments in the vehicle architecture.
The most significant changes occurred between the 2016 and 2021 model years, when the vehicle dimensions were slightly adjusted to improve aerodynamics and optimize the interior. These changes can also affect the trunk volume, with newer models generally designed more efficiently.
Direct Competitors
In the same price range and size as the Porsche Gen2 Cabriolet, models such as the BMW Z4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet can be found. The BMW Z4 offers a trunk volume of about 9.9 cu ft, which provides significantly more space than the Gen2 Cabriolet.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet has a trunk volume of around 12.7 cu ft, making it an attractive option for buyers who value storage space. These differences in trunk volume can be decisive depending on the individual needs of buyers.
More Affordable Alternatives
For buyers looking for similar trunk dimensions as the Porsche Gen2 Cabriolet but with a limited budget, there are some more affordable alternatives. Models such as the Ford Mustang Cabriolet or the Mazda MX-5 offer similar trunk dimensions and are generally cheaper to purchase.
The Ford Mustang has a trunk volume of about 11.7 cu ft, while the Mazda MX-5 is somewhat smaller at about 4.6 cu ft but is usually offered at a lower price. These models offer a good combination of driving fun and practical transport options.
