Trunk dimensions Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan Coupé 2024 offers a trunk with a volume of about 14.4 cu ft, which can be expanded up to 42.4 cu ft by folding down the rear seats. The rear bench is split 40:20:40, allowing flexibility when transporting larger items. The interior design is high-quality, focusing on sportiness and functionality.

The trunk dimensions vary slightly within the model range, with a rather flat and wide shape that facilitates loading. The loading edge is relatively low, increasing practicality. Overall, the Taycan Coupé combines appealing aesthetics with practical features that make everyday life easier.

Model Information

The Porsche Taycan Coupé is a fully electric sports vehicle first introduced in 2019. It combines the performance of a sports car with the benefits of electric mobility. The Taycan offers impressive acceleration, advanced technology, and a luxurious interior.

With a range of up to 500 km (depending on variant and driving style), it is suitable for both daily use and longer trips. The Taycan Coupé is part of Porsche's effort to integrate electric mobility into the sports car world.

Variants of the Same Series

The Porsche Taycan is available in several variants, including the Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo, and Taycan Turbo S. These models differ in performance, range, and equipment.

There is also a Taycan Cross Turismo variant, which features increased ground clearance and a wagon-like design. Buyers should note that the different models vary significantly in their driving performance and technical specifications.

Model Year Differences

The Porsche Taycan has been continuously developed since its introduction in 2019. Changes in the 2020 and 2021 model years mainly involved software updates and minor technical adjustments, which did not significantly affect body dimensions or trunk volume.

Up to 2023, no fundamental changes in body shape or trunk dimensions are known.

Direct Competitors

In the same price class and size, models such as the Tesla Model S and Audi e-tron GT can be found. The Tesla Model S offers a trunk volume of about 31.6 cu ft (combined with the frunk), making it superior in this regard.

The Audi e-tron GT has a trunk volume of about 14.3 cu ft, which also provides more space than the Taycan. These differences can be decisive for buyers who value storage space.

More Affordable Alternatives

More affordable models with similar trunk dimensions include the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Ford Mustang Mach-E offers a trunk volume of up to 50.1 cu ft (with folded rear seats), making it an attractive option for buyers seeking good value for money.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a trunk volume of about 18.6 cu ft, which is also competitive. These models offer a combination of price and functionality that may appeal to many buyers.

Trunk Volume

The trunk volume is 17.3 cu ft (manufacturer specification). This is 16.9% larger than an average car. Relative to the total vehicle volume (L×W×H/2), the trunk accounts for about 7.3%, which is 0.9 percentage points more than average.

Practical implications: The volume is significantly above average for a sports sedan and offers enough space for daily shopping, weekend luggage, or multiple bags. The increased proportion of trunk space relative to vehicle size indicates efficient space utilization.

Vehicle Size and Parking Friendliness

Dimensions: 195.3 in long, 77.6 in wide, 54.3 in high.

Compared to average, the vehicle is 15.7 in longer (≈ +8.8%), 4.7 in wider (≈ +6.2%), and 7.1 in lower (≈ −11.8%).
Compared to a typical parking space, the Taycan is 1.6 in shorter and 20.9 in narrower – meaning it fits into standard parking spots but has relatively little length and side clearance.

Practical implications: The wider and longer footprint increases road presence and can make maneuvering in narrow streets more difficult.

In standard parking spaces there is still room (about 1.6 in in length; overall 20.9 in width clearance, roughly 25–10.6 in per side when centered), but the width reduces tolerance when opening doors next to neighboring vehicles.

The low height is advantageous in underground garages with low ramps but can lead to somewhat tighter headroom and visibility inside.

Trunk Usability and Flexibility

The volume of 17.3 cu ft makes the Taycan practical for everyday shopping and travel transport. Since it is a sedan, the loading opening is generally narrower and lower than in wagons or SUVs; bulky items are therefore less easy to load.

Practical implications: For regular transport of long or very tall items, foldable rear seats (if available) are the most important option for expansion. For luggage, shopping, and strollers, the storage space offers a comfortable solution — but the sporty body shape can limit handling of very tall or bulky cargo.

General Model Information

Familiarity: The Porsche Taycan is Porsche’s fully electric sports sedan and is regarded as a performance-oriented electric vehicle with a premium focus.

Special features and characteristics: Typical are sporty proportions (low, wide silhouette), electric drive characteristics, and premium-oriented equipment. The dimensions and comparatively large trunk volume show that Porsche aims for a combination of driving dynamics and everyday usability.

Price-performance assessment: As a model of the premium brand Porsche, the Taycan is generally positioned in the higher price segment; buyers receive sporty performance, high-quality workmanship, and electric technology in return.

Competing models: Relevant competitors in the electric sports/luxury sedan segment include Tesla Model S, Audi e-tron GT, Mercedes-Benz EQE/EQS, and BMW i4/i7.
