Trunk dimensions Proton Gen-2

The trunk of the Proton Gen2 2007 offers a volume of about 13.1 cu ft with the rear seats upright and up to 42.4 cu ft with the seats folded down.

The rear seat is split 60:40, allowing flexibility when transporting larger items. The interior design is functional, with a high loading lip that facilitates loading but somewhat hinders accessibility.

The trunk dimensions vary within the model range, with the hatchback version typically having a compact shape. Practicality is increased by the ability to fold down the rear seats, maximizing space for luggage or other cargo.

Overall, the trunk of the Proton Gen2 offers a balanced combination of volume and flexibility suitable for everyday use.

Model Information

The Proton Gen2 is a compact hatchback model that was first introduced in 2004. It was developed as part of Proton's product lineup and offers a combination of sporty design and practical features.

The Gen2 is known for its reliability and cost-efficient maintenance, making it a popular choice in the small car segment. With a modern interior and solid equipment, the Gen2 targets buyers looking for good value for money.

Variants of the Same Series

The Proton Gen2 is mainly offered as a hatchback. However, there are other Proton models operating in similar segments, such as the Proton Persona sedan.

Buyers should be careful not to confuse the Gen2 with these other variants, as the body shape and design differ significantly. In particular, the hatchback variant offers a sportier look and different functionality compared to the sedan.

Trunk Volume

The trunk of the Proton Gen2 offers a volume of about 12 cu ft, which is considered sufficient for a vehicle of this size. The loading area is well usable and allows the transport of luggage and other items without major difficulties.

The rear seats can be folded down, providing additional flexibility when transporting larger loads. This feature is especially useful for buyers who occasionally need to transport larger items.

Yearly Differences

The Proton Gen2 has undergone several model changes over the years that have affected the body dimensions and trunk volume.

The most significant changes occurred between 2004 and 2007 when the model was updated to meet changing market demands. These changes mainly affected equipment and design, while the basic trunk dimensions remained relatively constant.

Direct Competition

In the same price range and size, there are several comparable models, such as the Ford Fiesta and the VW Polo. The Ford Fiesta offers a trunk volume of about 10.3 cu ft, while the VW Polo provides slightly more space with 12.4 cu ft.

Compared to the Gen2, the Polo has the advantage of a larger trunk, while the Fiesta falls somewhat behind the Gen2 in this category. These differences can be decisive for buyers who place particular value on storage space.

More Affordable Alternatives

For buyers looking for a similar trunk size as the Proton Gen2 but considering a more affordable model, vehicles like the Dacia Sandero and the Kia Picanto are interesting. The Dacia Sandero offers a trunk volume of about 11.3 cu ft and is known for its good value for money.

The Kia Picanto, on the other hand, has a smaller trunk with about 9 cu ft but often offers extensive equipment at a similar price. These alternatives are attractive for buyers seeking a good level of functionality at a lower price.
