Trunk dimensions Saab Saab 9-5 Sedan

The trunk of the 2011 Saab 9-5 Sedan offers a volume of about 17.7 cu ft, which can be expanded to approximately 56.5 cu ft by folding down the rear seats.

The rear bench is split 60:40, allowing flexibility when transporting larger items. The interior is well designed, with a low loading lip that makes loading and unloading easier.

The trunk dimensions vary slightly within the model range but generally remain consistent. Typical features include the practical shape and solid workmanship characteristic of the Saab 9-5. The trunk is also equipped with various storage compartments and a sturdy floor, which facilitates everyday use.

Model Information

The Saab 9-5 is a sedan first introduced in 1997 and produced until 2011. The latest series of the Saab 9-5, launched in 2010, is characterized by an elegant design and comfortable interior.

The sedan offers a combination of sporty driving dynamics and luxurious comfort, making it a popular choice in the upper mid-size segment. The 9-5 is known for its safety features and innovative technology typical of Saab.

Variants of the Same Series

The Saab 9-5 was mainly offered as a sedan. However, there was also a wagon version known as the Saab 9-5 SportCombi. This variant provides more cargo space and flexibility for transporting luggage and other items.

It is important not to confuse the sedan and wagon versions, as they offer different trunk volumes and transport options.

Trunk Volume

The trunk of the Saab 9-5 Sedan has a volume of about 17.7 cu ft, which is considered generous for a sedan in this class. The loading area is easily accessible, and the rear seats can be folded down to create additional space for larger items.

The trunk lid opens wide, facilitating loading and unloading. The shape of the trunk is practically designed to optimize the use of available space.

Yearly Differences

Model changes affecting the body and trunk dimensions of the Saab 9-5 mainly occurred between the 1997 and 2010 model years.

The first generation had different dimensions and a smaller trunk volume compared to the second generation introduced in 2010. These changes resulted in a larger and more functional trunk that better met buyers’ needs.

Direct Competitors

In the same price class and size as the Saab 9-5 are models like the BMW 5 Series and the Audi A6 Sedan. The BMW 5 Series offers a trunk volume of about 18.7 cu ft, while the Audi A6 Sedan also has approximately 18.7 cu ft.

In comparison, the Saab 9-5 has a slightly smaller trunk volume, which could be a decisive factor for buyers needing a lot of cargo space.

More Affordable Alternatives

More affordable car models with similar trunk dimensions include the Ford Mondeo and the Skoda Superb. The Ford Mondeo Sedan has a trunk volume of about 18.5 cu ft, while the Skoda Superb offers up to 22.1 cu ft.

These models provide similar size and functionality but are generally available at a lower price, making them attractive alternatives for budget-conscious buyers.
