Trunk dimensions Volkswagen Golf (Mk6)

The trunk of the Volkswagen Golf 6 (2009) has a volume of about 12.4 cu ft, which increases to approximately 46.1 cu ft when the rear seats are folded down.

The trunk dimensions vary within the model range, but the Golf 6 remains known for its compactness and practicality. Typical features include the rectangular shape and good accessibility, making the trunk suitable for everyday use and travel.

The design promotes efficient use of space, while the material quality conveys an overall impression of robustness and durability.

Model Information

The VW Golf 6 is a compact series from the Volkswagen Group, produced from 2008 to 2012. It is considered one of the most popular Golf variants and offers a balanced combination of driving comfort, efficiency, and technology.

The Golf 6 is known for its high-quality workmanship and extensive equipment. The hatchback version is especially popular as it combines a sporty look with practical features.

Variants of the Same Series

The VW Golf 6 is available in various versions, including hatchback, sedan, and wagon models.

The hatchback variant is characterized by its compact shape and sporty lines, while the wagon version offers more space and flexibility. It is important not to confuse these models, as they have different features and use cases.

Trunk Volume

The trunk of the VW Golf 6 hatchback offers a volume of about 12.4 cu ft, which is competitive for the compact class. The rear seats can be folded down, increasing the cargo volume to up to 46.1 cu ft.

This flexibility allows for transporting larger items and makes the Golf 6 a practical vehicle for everyday use. The trunk opening is also generously sized, facilitating loading and unloading.

Yearly Differences

The VW Golf 6 was introduced in 2008 and remained in production until 2012. During this time, there were some model changes that affected the body dimensions and trunk volume.

However, the basic measurements remained constant, with minor adjustments made in the equipment variants. A notable difference is the transition to the Golf 7, introduced in 2012, which offers a larger trunk capacity.

Direct Competitors

In the compact class, there are several comparable models, such as the Ford Focus, Opel Astra, and Renault Mégane.

The Ford Focus offers a trunk volume of about 13.2 cu ft, making it somewhat roomier compared to the Golf 6. The Opel Astra has a volume of around 13.1 cu ft, while the Renault Mégane also offers more space with about 13.3 cu ft. These differences can be decisive for buyers who value storage space.

More Affordable Alternatives

There are also more affordable models that offer similar trunk dimensions as the Golf 6. Vehicles like the Dacia Sandero or Skoda Fabia are often cheaper and provide comparable trunk volumes of about 320 to 12.7 cu ft.

These models are especially interesting for buyers seeking good value for money without having to compromise on functionality and space.
