Trunk dimensions Volkswagen Golf (Mk7)

The trunk of the Volkswagen Golf 7 (2013) offers a volume of 13.4 cu ft, which increases to 44.8 cu ft when the rear seats are folded down.

The rear bench is split 60:40, allowing flexibility when transporting luggage. The interior design is functional and well thought out, with a low loading edge that makes loading and unloading easier.

The trunk dimensions vary within the model range, with the hatchback version typically featuring a practical shape that promotes optimal space utilization.

The equipment often includes tie-down hooks and a continuous loading surface, enhancing practicality. Overall, the Golf 7 offers a balanced mix of space and everyday usability.

Model Information

The VW Golf 7 is one of Volkswagen's most popular compact car series and was first introduced in 2012. It is characterized by a combination of modern design, advanced technology, and high everyday usability.

The Golf 7 offers a variety of powertrains, including gasoline, diesel, and hybrid variants, and is known for its driving dynamics as well as high comfort. The hatchback variant is especially popular as it combines a sporty look with practical features.

Variants of the Same Series

The VW Golf 7 is available in several variants, including hatchback, sedan, and wagon versions. The hatchback variant is the best-selling and offers a sporty silhouette.

The sedan has a longer body and provides more space in the rear seats, while the wagon (Golf Variant) offers a larger cargo volume and increased functionality for transport purposes. Buyers should be aware that each variant has different characteristics and dimensions.

Trunk Volume

The trunk of the VW Golf 7 hatchback has a volume of about 13.4 cu ft, which is considered generous for the compact class. When the rear seats are folded down, the volume can be expanded up to 44.8 cu ft, offering high flexibility for transporting luggage and other items.

The trunk opening is wide and allows easy loading, while the low loading edge facilitates access. Additionally, practical tie-down hooks are present in the trunk to secure the cargo.

Yearly Differences

The VW Golf 7 was introduced in 2012 and received a facelift in 2016, which brought some changes to the body and dimensions. These changes mainly affected the front and rear design as well as the interior technology.

However, the trunk dimensions remained largely constant, so the differences in trunk size between model years are minimal. The model update mainly brought improvements in equipment and engine efficiency.

Direct Competitors

In the compact class, the VW Golf 7 competes with models such as the Ford Focus, Opel Astra, and Renault Mégane. The Ford Focus offers a trunk volume of about 13.2 cu ft, while the Opel Astra provides slightly less space at 13.1 cu ft.

The Renault Mégane, on the other hand, has a trunk of 13.6 cu ft, slightly surpassing the Golf 7. These differences are small but can be decisive for buyers who value trunk space.

More Affordable Alternatives

For buyers seeking a similar trunk volume to the Golf 7 but with a limited budget, there are some alternatives. Models like the Skoda Scala or the Dacia Sandero offer comparable trunk sizes of about 14.1 cu ft and 11.6 cu ft respectively but are generally more affordable.

These vehicles offer a good combination of functionality and value for money, making them attractive alternatives.
